Marie Tomblin looks after the Sacristy. She looks after the
altar cloths, changes them and launders them weekly.
She keeps an eye on the supplies of altar bread wine and candles
and lets Karan know if anything is getting low. She also checks
that Father has ordered seasonal things like ashes, palms, paschal
candle.
She cleans weekly the chalice together with the ciboria. There
is additional silver which she cleans from time to time. She also
cleans the candlesticks, cross, Paschal Candle stand, tabernacle
door and the cross on the font all these have to be cleaned
regularly.
She regularly cleans the holy water stoops and keeps them topped
up with water.
She keeps the altar area tidy and dusted. Making sure the chairs
and hymn books for the altar servers are in order.
She also keeps the Sacristy tidy and makes sure that chairs are
in good order in case there is a wedding.
When Father Jim is away she opens the church and sets out for
Mass. She ensures that the visiting priest has everything that he
needs.
There are extra duties at Christmas and Easter and this year she
was grateful for the help of Cathy Hill, Kathy Turner and Thelma
Hawke.
Marie is also assisted by Kathy Turner and Sue Davy who set out
for Masses on a Sunday and Saturday evening.
Marie would like someone to train for her job so that when she
goes on holiday they could take over from her.
She is at present making some new purificators. These have to be
hemmed and she would appreciated some volunteers to help her to
hem these.
