Saturday 5 December 2009 - Help to create a splash.
This December world leaders will meet in Copenhagen for historic
climate change talks. We need them to commit to a fair climate
change deal so all God's creation can flourish. This will be an
important chance to tell world leaders to get it right before the
final negotiations begin.
Join with fellow Christians at an ecumenical service at 11am at the
Methodist Central Hall, near Westminster Abbey in London, led by
Archbishop Vincent Nicholls and Archbishop Rowan Williams together
with other church leaders.
This will be followed at 12pm by Youth marketplace with activities
for children and young people and a chance to make banners to wave
on the rally.
From there, led by the church leaders, walk to Grosvenor Square for
the Stop Climate Chaos march - a family-friendly, peaceful march
around the River Thames setting off at 1pm and ending with a 'mass
moment' as Big Ben strikes 3pm.
We are encouraged to wear blue - including wigs and make-up if
we wish - and wave blue banners.
How to get to the rally: a coach will be leaving Reading Central
Station at 8.30am on the day stopping at Woodley (Woodford Park)
and Maidenhead. Tickets are £10. If you would like a seat,
please contact Rita Bellety - by email rita.bellety@talktalk.net or
phone 0118 969 6219. If you want to make your own way there and
meet up with others from the Portsmouth diocese, call the local
Cafod office on 01252 329 385.
