The time of year has come around again when we are looking for
help in ensuring the wonderful things happening within our Parish
Community can continue to take place. As a Parish Pastoral Council
(PPC), the central theme for our work this year is "Welcome" as at
the end of the day this is exactly what we want our parish
community to be - Welcoming to all, inclusive and active in
supporting community development.
We would like to provide a visual guide to the 'life of our
parish' and publish a calendar which can be accessed at the back of
the church to inform everyone what is happening when over the next
twelve months. We want your ideas and suggestions of how to improve
what we do and enable us to consider what you want from the PPC as
a community?
In order to inform our community of what a wonderfully active
Parish we have, we intend to host an Open Event after each Mass on
the weekend of 15th and 16th October where each of the Parish
groups are invited to 'sell their wears', introduce themselves,
what they do and when they do it, to enable everyone to become more
aware of the vast amount already going on in our parish and see if
you would like to become more involved, either as a participator or
a volunteer. Please come along and meet with us, share your
thoughts, have your say and see if you can be persuaded to join in.
It is surprising just how much is going for everyone.
One thing for certain is that we cannot continue to have such an
active Parish if we cannot persuade others to join in. We have many
vacancies just waiting to be filled - some bigger than others. If
the parish is to continue to prosper we need your help - if we all
hope someone else will do it, nobody will do anything and we will
be left with little opportunity to serve our parish and those
within it. We are fortunate in being a very active parish. We are
also lucky to have a wide demographic spread. It is essential, I
believe, for the parish to make use of all this talent.
We welcome young volunteers, perhaps as readers or Eucharistic
ministers, any new parishioners, of whom we have welcomed many over
the past twelve months, would also be vey welcome and their help
warmly received as they become more involved in parish
activities.
Have you got the time and interest to be involved? We have many
vacancies, some of which can be taken on by more than one person in
order to share the load. For instance we are looking for someone to
lead the social committee, a group we have all benefitted from at
some stage during the year after Mass and at other times. We are
also looking for someone to lead the group who visit the sick; this
is not an onerous task but involves getting the groups together to
talk perhaps a couple of times a year. Is there something we are
not doing which you could help set up?
If you can help, please email your name and contact details, and
to let us know where you could help, to
chair@corpuschristi-wokingham.org . Come and join us after Mass
this weekend and find more out about the wonderfully active Parish
we have. Thank you in anticipation for your responses.
