Over the past few years, the pilgrimage committee has organised
a number of very successful pilgrimages on behalf of the parish,
overseas to Assisi & Bolsena and to Lourdes and here in the UK
to Canterbury, Salisbury and Winchester.
All the pilgrimages have been characterised by a strong sense of
spirituality and fellowship.
Our latest pilgrimage is this year to Santiago de Compostela.
With Canon Frank O'Sullivan as our Spiritual Director, we will
leave from the church car park for our flight to Spain. Starting
off in Bilbao, we will follow The Way of St James (El Camino
de Santiago) by coach to Compostela. The Way has existed for over a
thousand years and in medieval times was one of the three most
important pilgrimages, together with Rome &
Jerusalem.
Overnighting along the Camino in both Burgos and Leon,
we will be exploring the spiritual heritage of these beautiful
cities with Mass each day in their Cathedrals.
Arriving in Santiago in the late afternoon of June 7th we will
spend two days in the city, where the tomb of St James is thought
to have been discovered and will celebrate Mass in the magnificent
Romanesque Cathedral of St James with it's striking baroque
facade. We will fly back from La Coruna, arriving back at the church
car park around mid afternoon of Saturday June 9th. The price will
be £739.
All are most welcome to join us. Please register for the
pilgrimage by signing up on the pilgrimage notice board in church
